There is a New Hampshire rebate on the pump, not on the wiring

NHSaves lists “Variable-Speed Pool Pumps, $350 rebate” and describes it as: “Upgrade to an ENERGY STAR certified pool pump to use up to 18% less energy than standard pumps.”

NHSaves is funded by electric and natural gas ratepayers and, in its own words, “delivered by Eversource, Liberty Utilities, New Hampshire Electric Cooperative and Unitil.”

The rebate applies to the pump, not to electrical work. We will wire whatever you buy, and we do not handle the rebate.

Permits are set town by town. Our NH electrical permits guide explains how to check yours; in Hopkinton, a permit is required for “Expansion or changes to electrical, plumbing, mechanical or fire protection systems.”

Pool and hot tub questions

Do you wire hot tubs?

Do I need a permit for a hot tub circuit?

Permits are set town by town. The Town of Hopkinton lists “Expansion or changes to electrical, plumbing, mechanical or fire protection systems” among the work that requires a permit, so a new hot tub circuit there is permit work. Check with your own town; our permits guide explains how.

Can you do landscape and pool-area lighting?

Yes. Pool-deck, path and grounds lighting is normal work. Design it at the same time as the pool or tub circuit.

Who do I call if the GFCI on my hot tub keeps tripping?

Call (603) 224-7474 and describe when it trips: on start-up, on the heater, or at random. A GFCI that trips repeatedly is telling you something and should be looked at by an electrician. The office is open Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Have the specification sheet to hand

The tub or pump’s data plate tells us most of what we need on the first call. Photograph it and text it, or bring it to the phone.
